What is Typeless? Maker, plans, platforms and data handling

Typeless is a cloud AI dictation app for Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone and Android. See who runs it, what it costs, how it handles your data and who it suits.

Typeless is an AI voice dictation app for macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android, operated by Simply CA LLC of Palo Alto, California. Its homepage says you "speak naturally, and Typeless will turn your words into polished messages, emails, and documents". Transcription runs in Typeless's cloud. There is a free plan with a weekly word limit, a Pro subscription and a custom-priced Enterprise tier.

Publisher note: SuprFlow publishes this guide and is one of the products discussed. Competitor details come from each company's own pages, checked on 3 October 2026. Prices and features change; confirm before you buy.

This profile is built from Typeless's own pages. We have not tested Typeless, and nothing here is a judgement of its quality or accuracy.

What does Typeless do?

Typeless turns speech into written text in the app you are using, and edits it as it goes. According to its homepage, it removes filler words and repetition, applies the change when you correct yourself mid-sentence, formats lists and paragraphs, and adjusts tone for each app, so a chat message and an email can come out differently.

It also does more than dictation. Typeless lists translation as you speak, speaking to edit selected text, asking questions about selected text, and "quick answers & actions". All of this runs through its cloud: its Data Controls page says your voice audio is processed together with "limited contextual information, such as the application you're using and relevant text within it", and is "immediately discarded once the result is returned".

On storage and training, the same page says: "Your voice audio is not stored. Dictation data is not used for model training by us or any third party." Pro adds unlimited words, what Typeless calls enhanced accuracy, priority access when the service is busy, and cloud sync across devices.

Who is Typeless for?

Based on Typeless's own pages, it suits people who:

  • want spoken drafts turned into edited, formatted writing rather than a word-for-word transcript;
  • work across many platforms, including Linux and Android;
  • want translation or voice editing of selected text in the same tool;
  • are allowed to use a US cloud service and value a stated no-storage, no-training position;
  • buy for an organisation that needs SSO, SCIM, audit logs or enforced HIPAA controls, which Typeless lists on Enterprise.

Who may want something else?

These reasons come from Typeless's own pages:

  • You need dictation without a connection. Typeless says transcription runs in the cloud, and the pages we read describe no offline mode.
  • Your rules say audio or on-screen context must not leave the device. Typeless processes both on its cloud servers, and its privacy policy says data is transferred to and processed in the United States.
  • You want to pay once. Typeless lists monthly and yearly billing only, and monthly Pro is $30.
  • Your reviewer needs a SOC 2 report. We did not find one listed on Typeless's public pages; see our Typeless safety guide.

How does Typeless compare?

Where does SuprFlow fit?

SuprFlow, which publishes this page, takes a different trade-off: local speech on the Mac with an on-device model, and one payment ($125 lifetime access for up to 5 Macs you own, a 7-day refund on a first purchase, no subscription). Default formatting is local cleanup of punctuation, capitalization and numbers. Optional cloud formatting sends transcript text, not audio, to the provider you pick.

SuprFlow is the wrong choice if you want a free plan or trial, apps for Windows, Linux or phones, translation, voice editing of selected text, team features, or a vendor that states certifications. Typeless lists those and SuprFlow has none of them. If Typeless's free allowance covers your week, it costs nothing to keep using.

Questions people ask

Is Typeless free?

There is a free plan. As of 3 October 2026, Typeless's pricing page lists Free at $0 with "Limited words", standard accuracy and standard access during high demand. The weekly allowance appears in the app. Typeless pricing explains the limits.

Is Typeless safe?

Typeless says your voice audio is not stored, dictation is not used for training, data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and it is ISO 27001 certified. Your audio and some on-screen context are processed in its cloud. Is Typeless safe? sets out what its pages say and what they leave open.

Does Typeless work offline?

Typeless's Data Controls page says transcription is performed on the cloud, and the pages we read describe no offline mode, so expect dictation to need a connection.

How much is Typeless?

As of 3 October 2026, Pro costs $12 per member a month billed yearly ($144 a year) or $30 a month billed monthly, and Enterprise is custom. See Typeless pricing for a three-year cost table.
