The destination decides what happens after insertion. SuprFlow can recognize speech locally, and its default local formatting path need not send transcript text to a hosted formatter. Once the finished words enter a Google Doc, a OneDrive-synced file, a CRM, or a case-management browser field, that destination's storage, sync, sharing, and retention rules apply. “Local speech recognition” is a claim about one stage of the workflow, not a promise that the final note never leaves the Mac.
Google says Docs content is stored in its data centers, with an offline copy possible on the device. Microsoft says a file saved in a OneDrive folder on a Mac is synchronized with OneDrive and other connected computers. Those statements describe the services generally; a particular firm's account, tenancy, sharing, retention, and contractual protections need separate review.
Draw the actual route before dictating
For a fictional client note, fill in these blanks with the approved configuration:
Microphone → local speech model → [local cleanup / hosted text formatter / remote Ollama endpoint] → SuprFlow history → pasteboard/insertion → [destination document or field] → [its sync and backups]
SuprFlow 1.0.0 supports local WhisperKit recognition and local cleanup. Cloud API formatting sends transcript text and formatting instructions to the selected provider. A custom Ollama endpoint may be on the same Mac or on another host; the label alone does not settle the route. Ordinary insertion briefly uses the macOS clipboard. SuprFlow also keeps recent transcript versions locally. See the full data-flow guide for each stage.
An offline-capable editor does not automatically mean a local-only editor. Google's offline Docs guidance says changes made offline are applied when the device reconnects. Saving in a folder that looks local in Finder may also be part of a sync service. Check the exact folder and account before calling a workflow private.
A two-minute destination check
- Identify the destination: local file path, browser URL, work account, personal account, CRM tenant, or practice-management matter. Do this before opening confidential material.
- Ask its administrator where content is stored, who can access it, whether autosave or sync is active, and whether draft/version history is retained. An approved enterprise cloud can be appropriate; the point is to make the route explicit.
- In SuprFlow, record the formatting choice and endpoint. If the rule is “no transcript text to external AI,” verify local formatting and any custom endpoint with IT.
- Dictate a synthetic sentence and watch where it appears. Confirm the right window and record, the right account, and any sync indicator or version history. Check the clipboard and backup policy where relevant.
- Have a human review names, dates, amounts, negations, and action owners before saving, sending, or treating the note as an official record.
For a law firm, the test might be a fictional attendance note in the approved matter system. For an adviser, it might be a fictional meeting note in the supervised CRM. The same control applies to both: approve the entire route, including the destination, rather than only the speech engine.
Questions people ask
If I turn off cloud formatting in SuprFlow, will Google Docs remain local?
No. Local SuprFlow formatting only addresses its formatting stage. Google Docs has its own cloud storage and offline-sync behavior. Use the account and destination your organization has approved.
Is a OneDrive folder on my Mac a local-only folder?
Microsoft describes its OneDrive folder as synchronized with its cloud and other connected computers. Check the exact path, account, and sync state rather than assuming the Finder location makes it private.
Does deleting SuprFlow history remove a synced document?
No. The destination owns that document and its versions or retention. SuprFlow Clear All concerns the app's own current history file and does not erase copies in other services.
