What about microphone and Accessibility permissions?
Aqua's FAQ and guides, as of 3 October 2026, do not list the macOS permissions the Mac app needs. Apple documents where those permissions live, for macOS 27:
- Choose Apple menu → System Settings, then click Privacy & Security.
- Click Microphone and check that Aqua Voice is listed and turned on. Apple's microphone access page describes the switch for each app.
- Click Accessibility and check the same. Apple's Accessibility access page explains the list and the Add button.
If Aqua Voice appears and is switched off, switching it on is a reasonable step; then quit and reopen the app. If no app on your Mac can use the microphone, the problem is the Mac's input; Mac Dictation not working covers Apple's checks.
What does Aqua Voice need online?
Aqua's FAQ says: "Cloud dictation needs an internet connection. Offline availability varies by platform, app version, and mode; contact support to check what your setup supports." It also says insertion time varies with the dictation mode, microphone and connection. If Aqua is slow or fails, check your connection before changing settings.
Is Aqua Voice down?
Aqua links a System Status page from its FAQ and site. Look there first. If it shows no incident, work through the table. For anything else, Aqua's FAQ says to email [email protected] with your Aqua version, operating system and the steps that cause the problem; support will tell you which logs to send.
