Willow Voice is free to start and has three paid tiers. As of 1 October 2026, Willow's pricing page lists Basic at $0, Pro at $15 per user a month or $12 a month on annual billing, Business at $35 a month or $28 on annual billing, and Enterprise at a custom price. So yes, Willow Voice is free for light use, with a weaker speech model than Pro. Willow's own pages do not fully agree on the free limit, which is covered below.
Publisher note: SuprFlow publishes this guide and is one of the products discussed. Competitor details come from each company's own pages, checked on 1 October 2026. Prices and features change; confirm before you buy.
What does each Willow plan cost?
Prices in USD as of 1 October 2026, from the Willow pricing page. The page shows annual billing as "Save 20%".
| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed annually | What Willow lists |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic (Free) | $0 | $0 | Unlimited use of the "weaker speech-to-text model (Frontier Mini)"; limited personalization; 20 Scribe uses per week; works anywhere you type. No credit card needed |
| Pro | $15 per user a month | $12 per user a month | Unlimited use of the "smartest speech-to-text model (Frontier Pro)"; faster, priority transcription; smart memory of your writing style; unlimited Scribe; increased dictation length |
| Business | $35 a month | $28 a month | Everything in Pro, plus enforced privacy mode (zero data retention), SOC 2 Type II, enforced HIPAA compliance, advanced admin and team controls |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Everything in Business, plus invoice or purchase-order billing, SSO/SAML, MSA and DPA, usage dashboards and API, dedicated support |
At $12 a month, a year of Pro on annual billing works out to $144. The pricing page lists Mac, iOS and Windows, with Android marked "Coming soon".
Where do Willow's own pages disagree?
Willow's help centre article Willow Pricing Plans Overview, dated 9 July 2026, describes the plans differently from the pricing page in four places:
| Point | Pricing page | Help centre article |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan limit | Unlimited use of the weaker Frontier Mini model | Also says unlimited Frontier Mini, but its comparison chart lists a word limit of 2,000 per week on Free |
| Recording length | "Increased dictation length" on Pro | 5 minutes per session on Free, up to 8 minutes on Pro |
| Team tier | Business, $35 a month ($28 annual) | "Team Pro", $12 per user a month, minimum 3 seats |
| SOC 2 and HIPAA | Lists SOC 2 Type II, enforced HIPAA and enforced privacy mode under Business | Chart puts SOC 2 and zero data retention on Enterprise only; Team has HIPAA and privacy mode; also describes a self-serve Enterprise tier for 1 to 50 seats |
The article also lists offline dictation under Individual Pro, which the pricing page does not mention.
We cannot tell you which page is current. Treat the limit shown inside the app and the price shown at checkout as the real ones, and if a 2,000-word weekly cap would change your decision, ask Willow before you plan around unlimited free use.
What is free, and where does it stop?
Taking the two pages together, the free plan gives you dictation in any app with the Frontier Mini model, a personal dictionary, style matching, transcript history, privacy mode and 100+ languages, on Mac, Windows and iOS. What you do not get on Free is the Frontier Pro model, priority transcription, the writing-style memory, unlimited Scribe (Willow's AI writing feature, capped at 20 uses a week on Free) and the longer recording sessions.
In short: the free plan is limited mainly by model quality. Whether that matters is something only a test on your own voice can show. We have not run a controlled benchmark of the two models.
Can you cancel, and are there refunds?
Willow's pricing FAQ says you can change or cancel at any time from Plan & Billing in the app, and that the plan stays active to the end of the billing period. The help article on managing or cancelling a subscription says Mac purchases are handled through Stripe and iOS subscriptions through Apple.
Neither page states a refund window. If you are about to pay for a year, ask Willow support what happens if you change your mind, or start on monthly billing.
Is there a Willow discount or promo code?
We do not list or pass on promo codes. Willow documents its own: the help article Discount Promo Codes says students, educators, non-profit staff or volunteers, and active military and veterans can get 30% off Willow Pro. You email Willow with proof of eligibility, and after verification they send you a unique code. A code from a coupon site is not that code; use Willow's process.
How much does Willow cost over one, two and three years?
List prices as of 1 October 2026, USD, one person, before tax. It assumes prices do not change, which no vendor promises.
| Option | How you pay | Year 1 | After 2 years | After 3 years |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Willow Basic | Free, weaker model | $0 | $0 | $0 |
| Willow Pro, monthly | $15 a month | $180 | $360 | $540 |
| Willow Pro, annual | $12 a month, billed annually | $144 | $288 | $432 |
| SuprFlow | $125 once | $125 | $125 | $125 |
| Superwhisper Free | Free, local Whisper models | $0 | $0 | $0 |
How to read it honestly:
- Short-term, Willow is cheaper. Eight months of Pro on monthly billing is $120. From the ninth month ($135) the one-time price is lower. On annual billing the first payment, $144, is already more than $125.
- Willow's free plan may be all you need. If the Frontier Mini model handles your voice well, neither paid option is necessary.
- The rows are different products. Willow is a cross-device service with team plans and AI writing features. SuprFlow is a Mac-only app for Apple Silicon and macOS 14 or later that recognises speech on the Mac, with local cleanup of punctuation, capitalization and numbers. It has no free tier, no trial, no Windows or phone app and no team console.
SuprFlow's licence is personal, covers up to five Macs you own, and has a 7-day refund on a first purchase.
Who should pay for Willow, and who should not?
Pay for Pro if you tried Basic, want the stronger model and longer recordings, and use Willow on more than one kind of device.
Pay for Business or ask about Enterprise if your organisation needs enforced privacy mode, the SOC 2 and HIPAA items Willow lists, SSO or contract paperwork. Confirm the details with Willow; a plan label is not a compliance guarantee for your workflow.
Stay on Basic if light dictation with the free model is good enough.
Do not pay if you want a one-time price or speech recognised on your own Mac by default. Willow Voice alternatives covers those.
