Monologue has one paid plan. As of 3 October 2026, Monologue Pro costs $15 a month, or $144 a year billed as one payment ($12 a month equivalent). Before that, a free trial gives you 1,000 dictation words and 10 recorded notes. Pro is also included with an Every subscription. One Pro subscription covers Monologue on Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, with unlimited dictation, unlimited recorded notes and bot-free meeting notes.
Publisher note: SuprFlow publishes this guide and is one of the products discussed. Competitor details come from each company's own pages, checked on 3 October 2026. Prices and features change; confirm before you buy.
What does each Monologue option cost?
Prices in USD as of 3 October 2026, from Monologue's pricing page and its Markdown version, pricing.md, which is marked "Last updated: 2026-08-06".
| Option | Price | What Monologue lists |
|---|---|---|
| Free trial | $0 | 1,000 dictation words, 10 recorded notes, offline transcription, context-aware formatting, 100+ languages |
| Pro, monthly | $15 a month | "Unlimited dictation", "Unlimited recorded notes", "Bot-free meeting notes", "Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch apps" |
| Pro, annual | $144 a year | Same as monthly; "charged as one $144 payment and saves 20% compared with monthly billing" |
| Every subscription | Every's own price | "Monologue Pro is also included with Every" |
| Team | Not priced on the pricing page | Monologue's billing guide says "Your organization gives you Pro access" and a team admin manages billing |
On Every's subscribe page, the annual plan is shown as $24 a month, billed at $288, and the monthly plan as $30 a month. The Every bundle also includes Every's other apps and its writing, so it is a different purchase from Monologue alone.
What does the free trial include, and where does it stop?
The trial is limited by use, not by days: 1,000 dictation words and 10 recorded notes. Monologue's billing guide says the app shows "any current usage allowance" under Settings → Plan & Billing on a Mac, and that "Plan availability and limits can change", so treat the in-app plan screen as the final word.
A thousand words goes quickly if you dictate emails all day, so plan what you want to test before you start.
What are you paying for?
Pro is a subscription to a cloud-backed service, not a one-off app. Monologue's processing guide says that by default "Audio is sent to Monologue's processing service for transcription and smart formatting." On an Apple silicon Mac you can switch to local transcription, but the same guide says "Smart formatting may still require a network connection." Is Monologue safe? covers what its privacy policy says about that service, including that it will not train AI models on your audio or transcripts.
The pricing page lists Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch apps. Monologue does not offer Windows or Android apps.
What are the cancellation and refund terms?
Where you cancel depends on where you bought. The billing guide says:
- Apple App Store: Apple handles the charge, receipt, cancellation and refund request.
- Direct Monologue purchase: use Manage subscription in Plan & Billing to open the billing portal.
- Every Bundle: manage it from your Every account.
- Team: your team admin manages billing.
It also warns that "Canceling one purchase source does not automatically cancel another", and not to assume unused time or refunds transfer between Apple, Monologue, Every or a team plan.
Monologue's terms of service, effective 31 October 2025, say subscriptions renew automatically for the same term unless you cancel, and: "You may cancel your subscription at any time, but you will not be entitled to a refund for any past payments or future payments due during the remainder of your canceled term." We found no money-back guarantee on the pages we read, so use the free trial before you pay. App Store purchases go through Apple's own refund process.
How much does Monologue cost over one, two and three years?
List prices as of 3 October 2026, one person, USD, before tax, assuming prices do not change.
| Option | Year 1 | After 2 years | After 3 years |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monologue free trial | $0 | — | — |
| Monologue Pro, annual | $144 | $288 | $432 |
| Monologue Pro, monthly | $180 | $360 | $540 |
| Every, annual (includes Monologue Pro) | $288 | $576 | $864 |
| SuprFlow, one-time | $125 | $125 | $125 |
How to read it honestly:
- Annual billing saves $36 a year over paying monthly, if you are sure you will keep it for twelve months.
- If you already pay for Every, Monologue costs you nothing extra. That is the cheapest route of all for an existing subscriber.
- SuprFlow costs less from the first year: $125 once against $144 for a year of annual Pro. On monthly billing, Monologue passes $125 in the ninth month.
- They are not the same product. Monologue Pro buys phone, tablet and watch apps, voice notes, bot-free meeting notes and cloud formatting. SuprFlow is a Mac-only dictation app for Apple Silicon and macOS 14 or later. Its speech recognition runs on the Mac with an on-device model, and its Default formatting is local cleanup of punctuation, capitalization and numbers. It has no iPhone app, no meeting recorder, no notes, no free trial, and a 7-day refund on a first purchase. If you want notes and meetings on your phone, the cheaper app is the wrong one.
We have not run a controlled benchmark of either app, so this page compares price and terms only. SuprFlow vs Monologue compares the apps.
Who should pay for Monologue Pro, and who should not?
Pay for Pro if you dictate on your iPhone or iPad as well as your Mac, you want voice notes and meeting notes without a bot joining the call, and cloud processing is acceptable for your material.
Choose annual if the trial convinced you and you expect to use it all year; the terms do not refund part of a cancelled term.
Use Every instead if you would read Every or use its other apps anyway.
Look elsewhere if you only need dictation on a Mac and would rather pay once, or you need Windows or Android. Monologue alternatives lists options by reason.
How do you get the most from the free trial?
- Install Monologue, sign in and grant Microphone and Accessibility.
- In your mail app, hold the right-side Option key (the default) and dictate this made-up passage: "Hi Ingrid, the retainer is 3,450 dollars, not 3,540. The call moves to Wednesday the 10th, sorry, Thursday the 11th. Copy Mr. Delacroix-Mensah."
- Check the surname, both amounts and the corrected date.
- On an Apple silicon Mac, switch to Local under Settings → Dictation → Transcription source, turn Wi-Fi off and repeat, to see what you get offline.
- Record one short fictional note to see whether notes matter to you.
- Check your remaining allowance in Plan & Billing before deciding.
