Spokenly is free for most of what a dictation app does. As of 1 October 2026, Spokenly's pricing page lists local models at "$0 forever" with unlimited use, bring-your-own API keys at $0, and Pro at $8.33 a month billed as $99.99 a year. Pro is the part you pay for: Spokenly's own cloud models, hosted AI cleanup and sync across devices. If on-device dictation is all you want, Spokenly says you can use it without ever paying.
Publisher note: SuprFlow publishes this guide and is one of the products discussed. Competitor details come from each company's own pages, checked on 1 October 2026. Prices and features change; confirm before you buy.
What does each Spokenly option cost?
Prices in USD as of 1 October 2026, from the Spokenly pricing page and its Team page.
| Option | Price | What Spokenly lists |
|---|---|---|
| Local Models | "$0 forever" | Unlimited use; Whisper and Parakeet models; works completely offline; no usage limits; no account needed |
| Your API Keys | $0 to Spokenly; you pay the provider | All local features; cloud transcription through your own OpenAI, Deepgram, Groq or other keys; real-time transcription |
| Pro, yearly | $99.99 a year (shown as $8.33 a month) | High-accuracy cloud models; AI text cleanup and polish; sync across devices; macOS, iOS, Windows and Linux; priority support; "Works out of the box" |
| Pro, monthly | $9.99 a month | Same as yearly; the page labels yearly billing "2 months free" |
| Team | $6.99 per seat a month, or $69.99 per seat a year | Full Pro for each member; minimum 2 seats; "Permanent 30% discount applied automatically at checkout" |
A note on the monthly figure: the pricing page opens on yearly billing and shows $8.33. The $9.99 monthly price is the list price printed on the Team page and in the pricing page's own product data. Confirm it by switching the page's toggle to Monthly, and treat the checkout as final.
Spokenly says Pro is available on macOS, Windows, Linux and iOS, and that activation may need an account sign-in or a restored App Store purchase depending on where you bought it.
What is free, and where does it stop?
Spokenly's FAQ answers "Is Spokenly really free?" this way: "On-device Whisper and Parakeet models are free forever with no word caps, no trial clock, and no credit card. You can dictate as much as you want without ever paying." Its comparison table adds: "Everything local is free forever in every plan. Pro only adds the cloud."
The free side stops at several points, according to that table:
| Feature | Local Models (free) | Your Keys (free) | Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unlimited offline dictation, 100+ languages | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| High-accuracy cloud models | No | Through your keys | Included |
| Real-time cloud streaming | No | Through your keys | Included |
| AI text cleanup and Agent Mode | Through Apple Intelligence | Through your LLM key | Included |
| Sync settings across devices | No | No | Yes |
| Priority support | No | No | Yes |
| Notch recording interface | No | No | Yes |
So Pro is a convenience purchase. The same cloud models are reachable with your own keys for no Spokenly fee, and the FAQ says of Pro: "No API keys, no setup, it just works."
"Free" with your own keys is not free overall. Spokenly's FAQ is clear that "You pay the provider directly at their usage rates." Whether that is cheaper than $99.99 a year depends on how much you dictate and which provider you pick.
What are the refund and cancellation terms?
Spokenly's pricing FAQ says Pro bought on spokenly.app "comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee": email [email protected] within 14 days for a full refund. It adds that if you miss the window you should contact them anyway. App Store purchases are refunded by Apple through its own process.
You can cancel from the billing portal for website purchases, or in App Store subscription settings, and you keep Pro until the end of the paid period.
Is there a Spokenly discount code or student discount?
We do not list or pass on discount codes. Spokenly documents two discounts on its own pages:
- Students: "verified students get 50% off Pro." You sign in with your academic email and contact support to claim it.
- Teams: two or more seats in one subscription get a 30% discount that the Team page says "stays for the life of the subscription".
For anything else, check the pricing page.
How much does Spokenly cost over one, two and three years?
List prices as of 1 October 2026, USD, one person, before tax. It assumes prices do not change, which no vendor promises.

How to read it honestly:
- Spokenly's free local tier beats every paid row on price, including SuprFlow. If offline dictation with Whisper or Parakeet on your Mac is the goal, Spokenly does it for $0 with no word cap. That is the first thing to try.
- Spokenly Pro is cheaper than SuprFlow for the first year. Twelve months of monthly Pro is $119.88, and a year on yearly billing is $99.99. In month 13 either route passes $125.
- Pro and SuprFlow are not the same purchase. Pro pays for cloud models and hosted AI cleanup on Mac, iPhone, Windows and Linux. SuprFlow is a Mac-only app for Apple Silicon and macOS 14 or later that recognises speech on the Mac, with local cleanup of punctuation, capitalization and numbers. It has no free tier, no trial and no Windows, Linux or phone app.
- So when would anyone pay $125? Only if, after trying Spokenly free, you prefer how SuprFlow works on your Mac. It is a preference, not a saving. SuprFlow's personal licence covers up to five Macs you own and has a 7-day refund on a first purchase.
We have not run a controlled benchmark of either app. SuprFlow vs Spokenly compares the two directly.
Who should pay for Spokenly Pro, and who should not?
Pay for Pro if you want cloud models without managing API keys, you want your settings synced across devices, or you use Spokenly on several platforms. Yearly billing saves about $20 over twelve monthly payments.
Use your own keys if you already have an OpenAI, Deepgram or Groq account and light usage. You get the cloud models with no Spokenly fee.
Stay on local models if offline dictation is accurate enough for you. For many people this is the whole product, and it is free.
Look elsewhere if Spokenly's free tier did not suit you. Spokenly alternatives lists other options.
